Brick by Brick: The Power of Storytelling and Why It Matters
At Neaux Media, we believe in the transformative power of storytelling. It’s not just about cameras, edits, or fancy graphics — it’s about giving voice to the people and places often overlooked. That belief is at the heart of our latest project: Brick by Brick — a documentary series that pulls back the curtain on Davis High School football and the community around it.
This isn’t just a sports story. This is about rebuilding culture, one brick at a time.
Why “Brick by Brick”?
The title comes from something deeper than football. At Davis High School, every player, every coach, every step matters. Head Coach Kelvin Chatham is leading a program in one of Houston’s most underserved areas, where challenges in the classroom and community are as tough as anything on the field.
But here’s what makes it different: this team isn’t waiting around for a savior. They’re building it themselves. Slowly. Purposefully. Brick by brick.
And we’re here to tell that story — not just to inspire, but to make an impact.
The Role of Media in Changing Narratives
Our goal with Brick by Brick isn’t just exposure. It’s equity. For too long, programs like Davis have been passed over. Lack of coverage means lack of opportunities. No film means no highlight reels. No attention means no scholarships.
By creating this documentary, we’re shifting that. The first episode alone has already made waves — garnering over 13,000 views in its first week and sparking real conversations around Davis football. The players are seeing themselves on screen, and so is the world.
Tying It Back to the Mission: Youth Involvement
What makes this project even more powerful is who’s behind the lens. We’re working with students — training them in film, photography, lighting, editing — and giving them tools they can use beyond this series. For many, this is their first taste of media production. For some, it may become a career.
This isn’t just a documentary. It’s a launchpad.
